Mastering foundational skills, especially in the area of reading, sets your child up for lifelong success. Schools map out the instructional delivery of specific skills at designated times of the school year. In most cases, instruction continues according to this progression even if the child has not mastered the skills. Although well intended, education is not tailored to the specific needs of every child. As the mother of three boys, I recognize the need for high-quality services to supplement traditional classroom instruction. However, many working parents simply do not have the time to “teach” these skills. I started The Core Learning Center, LLC, to connect the pieces between what happens in the classroom and what happens at home. I provide reading tutoring at the child’s level in a small group or one-to-one setting.
